INK IN THE LINES: An Australian War Memorial Touring Exhibition

Outback Regional Gallery | Winton Shire Council – 11 Nov – 1 Feb 2026

Tattoos are a conversation starter. Many members and veterans of the Australian Defence Forces have tattoos and while their reasons for getting tattooed are as varied as the people themselves, self-expression and belonging play a part. They also share a common purpose in getting inked: to remember.

Ink in the Lines features more than 70 powerful portraits detailing the experiences of 22 Australian servicemen and servicewomen, the exhibition is thought to be the first in Australia to explore the use of tattoos in the military.
