Winton boasts a number of sports facilities. There is a 9 hole golf course, squash courts, tennis courts and a lawn bowls club. All of which hold regular events and are open to residents and visitors alike. The new pitch at the Eric Lenton Memorial Sports & Recreational Grounds is the home of the 'Diamantina Devils' Winton senior and junior rugby league football clubs. The State School's undercover sports hall is ideal for indoor cricket, netball or basketball. There is the showgrounds and rodeo yards, and the Pony Club operates for young and old riders.

Winton's swimming pool has undergone a complete makover. The new aquatic centre boasts 3 seperate pools to satisfy all members of the family. Public sessions, swimming lessons, aqua aerobics and the 'Buccaneer Inflatable' should all make a welcome relief from the summer heat.

Winton's Skate Park opened in 2001. The park is free to use anytime for boards, blades and bikes.

With Bladensburg National Park on our doorstep, Winton is ideally located to offer access to a large area of outback camping, bushwalking and 4WDing.

Long Waterhole was created just on the edge of Winton Town as a sports and recreation area. There are trail bike tracks and the waterhole itself, when full, offers a good chance for the budding skiers to practice their skills.

There are a number of creeks and waterholes in the Shire and fishing trips can prove quite fruitfull!

The Walking Track extends around the edge of Winton Town and is in the process of being developed and extended and is a popular place for a stroll. Please note that this track is for walkers only, bikes and horse riders are prohibited.

There are several pubs and clubs in Winton offering great pub meals and refreshments. They also offer regular raffles and prizes, competitions and themed nights such as trivia quiz nights or pool competitions. There is also a weekly dancing club.
